Lunar Eclipse

There are subtle things of beauty that are quiet and not meant to last. You can sleep right through them or lie awake at 4:00 AM fretting and miss them entirely. Like the blood red lunar eclipse.

A celestial wonder; it filled me with awe and unexpected sadness. As I watched the light of the moon slip away, like a dying friend, I desperately wanted to cling to it and make it last. Like so much in life that I don’t want to end: blissful experiences, heartfelt moments with strangers, vacations, romantic relationships, the lives of loved ones.

The moon’s sliver of light only disappeared for a few moments before it returned in a different form. The end of grasping brings life back with a new perspective.

“The finest hour that I have seen Is the one that comes between The edge of night and the break of day It’s when the darkness goes away”
